Introduce yourself

Hi everyone,
A lot of people are registering on site which great news!! It would be cool if you could all pop a quick message about yourself here. Just to say hi. If you want tell a little bit about yourself, your group or your style and what you hope to get from the site even better... or literally just say 'hi'.
So to kick things off...
Hi everyone, my name is Cientista, Andy. I'm a student of Mestre Poncianinho of CDO London. I've travelled around a bit, lived in Thailand and Brazil for quite a while and for now I'm settled back in London where I work in new media. i hope that together we can make Capoeira Science be all it could be.
Um Abraco pra todo mundo!

ATACX GYM CAPOEIRA
Hello everyone! We're relatively new and our approach is somewhat different than alot of schools. We fight. ..A LOT...with our capoeira, lol. We compete in different tournaments too but our primary interest is self-defense capoeira style when it's time to show our combat skill. We of course participate in noncombative capoeira rodas, sing etc etc but we think it's vital that the actual functional freedom fighting power as represented by such legends as Zumbi dos Palmares and Beouro and street fighting malicia of capoeira that predated such luminaries as the Maltas of Brazil and communicated to us by such warriors as Mestres Pastinha and Bimba and incarnated in the brave mestres who participated in THE WORLD FIGHT is every bit as vital as the song dance fun music energy spirit and culture shown in the less combative rodas. It is our opinion that without the warriors? Capoeira isn't fully capoeira and would have looong perished prior to our generation being blessed with the beauty and spirit that is capoeira. We think that the FIGHT of capoeira needs to be preserved every bit as much as its other facets, and that the warriors of capoeira--while still extant in our time--are dwindling in number to such an extent that we're in danger of losing them to extinction altogether. The warriors that previously swelled capoeira's ranks are being siphoned off by other martial arts due to the common misconception that capoeira is not and has never been a place for warriors. Warriors who...as my Mestre told me his Mestre told him...will can and must simultaneously sing the Song of Life and groove with the Dance of Death. Our youtube videos and blogs will go more into depth about this.
Thank you for having us.

hey, my balance is constantly
hey, my balance is constantly serving then failing me, can anyone suggest training tips to improve it for long term? it'd really be helpful
Improve your balance
Hi Capow,
Balance is linked to fluid within your ears, all over muscular control and proprioception.
The second you work by constant training. Like aeorobic fitness, I find it goes a bit if I stop for a while then returns in a few training sessions. That's called staying on top of your game.
The third - proprioception is to do with how your muscles know where your body is positioned in space. You can work the proprioreceptors in your ankles by standing on one leg and seeing how long you can hold it, then challenge yourself by changing the raised leg's position. Now do the same with your eyes CLOSED. A few minutes a day will help. This is usually part of rehab for ankle injuries and I am working this exercise right now for example!
Cheers, Cientista

Hatef...
Hello Im Hatef! i wanted to know if there is any capoeira class or possibly club in Birmingham UK??
hey everyone!
My name is Cherie, my capoeira name is Cerejinha. I'm also part of Grupo Bantu Beira Mar with Contra-mestre Bundo in Jacksonville, FL. I've been involved with the group since 2002 but I live over an hour away so I can't always make it there, I just had my daughter, Kai and I don't have a car so I have turned to the internet to find inspiring capoeira moves so that I can get motivated, lose the extra baby fat and get back in shape. I'm totally in love with all aspects of capoeira and still working on making my portuguese fluent (anyone who wants to help me with that I would love you forever! haha) I used to watch videos on this site with friends from my capoeira group and just remembered it today so I figured I should stop being lazy and get back into the roda!
Hi Cerejinha
Good to hear that the site is useful for you. What do you think of the capoeira moves here? I'm concerned that they are all advanced ones.. so I recently filmed a load of beginners capoeira and intermediate stuff, its going into post production starting Monday. Let me know if there are nay moves you really want to see, the moves section is for people like you. But yes... no replacement for real training, get back in the roda!
Abracos,
C

Hello everybody, my name is Kevin. I'm 18 and got into capoeira just a couple years ago. I just recently quit a job working with kids after school, had a blast using some capoeira to beat em all at tag. I've managed to meet Mestre Efraim once, and haven't had a class in a while.
Hi
Hello all,
Newbie greetings. like the site,it's got a grass roots feeling but done with professionalism. I'm living in tropical norway, where i train with a group known as Centro Cultural Capoeira Baiana. Good bunch of people, capoeira keeps me sane and in-shape, which in a land full of bad food, shit weather and rude people is a necessity.
keep on kicking!
Delmonte
Haha yeh
Ha I guess its because capoeira comes from a place with good weather, amazing food and very friendly people that it gets us through the opposite back in moody Europe.
