The science of the art of capoeira

ONE DAY OF TRAINING "A WARRIOR - THOUGHTS AND REFLECTIONS"

casquinha capoeira's picture

The tiredness was obvious; the sweat that ran down the faces of the capoeiristas was the clear to see. The end of a capoeira training.

The persistence in the repetitions made the body assimilate what the mind was thinking, and when it does so, it is all the better for training. And so it was, the training of the capoeiristas...

The Training

They arrived at the training place, a old style warehouse where the two capoeiristas put on their favorite clothes, chose their favourite songs to play on an old record player, and they let the music full fill the room with melodies and rhythms to put them in the right mood.

The sound of the Berimbau crossed the room and the voice of an old master, singing things of the past... inspiring the capoeiristas to train. It all started in a relaxed way, cunning and trickery, just the way capoeira should be.

They warmed up a bit with the old school exercises, remembering the times of their childhood back in Brazil, and like a ritual crouched together in front of each, they shook hands as a sign of respect for the training to begin.
It was nice, felt nice! It was CAPOEIRA!

Self Defense

Capoeira has been around for sometime now and been a big fan of those who do it. I am just just wondering if a martial arts like Capoeira can also be used as a form of self defense especially during the event of an attack. if so what kind of training should I undergo to reach such level?
