Salve! everybody,

I love capoeira/did training Angola style school in Slovenia, Ljubljana with Maestre Ubaldo for 3 months last year, but did not have enough time to do more than 1 training per week. SO I cannot wait for the fall to start again...
I love what capoeira represents, it's history, that you play and not fight, lot's of girls doing it :9

It's very natural to me, cause I like to flow like water. With capoeira I'm closer to my true self as with any other martial arts.

Enjoy,

I am 17 years old and some couple of years ago i first saw a group performing caopeira in my gym. I was astonished by the skills and the beauty of this form of marcial art. Not till recently have I found the time to finally start learning but I am afraid that it is to late to start or overall if I will be able to do something. I now I am very dedicated but I would like to know about some personal experiences and opinions of how the development of the skillls needed goes and basically how does the learning of the whole concept develops. I am really interested in this and by the research I've done I find this to be extremely interesting and full of beauty. Another quetsion would be how should your fisical condition be as well as the diet because I would like to start change my habits into those that best fit this way of life. By the way.. I am form Costa Rica

My name is Francis, call me Shwa.

I recently started Capoeira 3 months ago with the Dallas Capoeira group CapuraGinga. I'm a light green cord and I'm going for my Dark Green Cord at the end of this month. I'm 19 years of age, Puerto Rican, Gay and a former United States Marine. Doing Capoeira has inspired me to learn more about the style, the history and many new variations to its movements.

Just by looking at this site I can tell it has a lot of information that'll be helpful to any Capoeira fighter anywhere. Hope to learn a lot!

Hi, I live in Bangkok at the moment. The class you are looking at there is Mestre Torpedo's, I heard its pretty good but can't say as I have never been. The other group in Bangkok is Capoeira Thailand and they dont train regularly just now. Just Wednesday afternoon and saturdays and sundays. Then there is Foo who teaches Angola on Tuesday evenings in Lumphini and Saturday mornings.

But its nto good to train with more than one style, your capoeira gets confused and your teachers get pissed off!

So the answer to your question is no. There is nowhere in Bangkok doing daily classes. There is in London at cdol.co.uk and many places in Brazil and the rest of the world I'm sure. As you are a beginner 3 times a week will be fine, you'll be tired as capoeira is very hard on a new body and if u really hunger for more you can do weights and stretching on your days off, remembering to have rest days!

Hope this helped!

Hi I'm in Bangkok about to finish my one year contract at the end of March and would like to get involved in some classes. I saw one school with these classes

Class times:
Mon: 7.30pm - 8.30 pm
Wed: 7.30pm - 8.30 pm
Sat: 5.00pm - 6.00pm

I do not know how much this place cost and this might be good for me when I first start out because I am still busy at work. However if I have to stay in Bangkok for another 2 month (rental contract) I want something a bit more often. Do you know any school with daily classes? I live in Lat Prao. I have been out of the exercise loop for a while and I would like to start with a schedule like this to get my body used to it at first and as my work comes to an end do daily classes. Anyway I just registered at this site and I'm a newbie to Capoeira, but I would like to get involved in something physical that I can continue where ever I go. Anyway if you have any suggestions please let me know. Jesse

Suggestions to simplify or break it down, you ask? ?

Try this question: Although it is a great question: for outsiders-looking-in-to-the-circle, Capoeira LOOKS difficult. If one does not have any acrobatic skill (eg: backflips, forward flips, somersaults, etc) then a BEGINNER will be scared to try Capoeira.

I personally am not acrobatic, but that does not stop me from wanting to learn Capoeira. Why? >> because I would hope to get stronger and eventually learn the acrobatics portion of Capoeira!

2008-2-7th, Thursday, Alaska time.

Greetings,
My first post here. I live in Alaska and recently re-grabbed two books off my bookshelf and started to re-attempt to learn Capoeira. The first time it was a bit of procrastination and trial-and-error.

Maybe this second time around will work. AXE'

The books are by Gerard Taylor (sp?): I think this author is out of London. Back on topic: it is so frozen here, I think the temperature won't permit anyone to do Capoeira. So I train indoors (laughs) and generally solo.

This website and the forum are a new resource for which I can possibly use! I look forward to hearing what others have to say.

peace,
axe'

there must be a lot of capoeira in south florida.

i googled it and came up with this video
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oyt8_vSPmp0
if they teach in your area u should definitely train with these guys. good capoeira. the kind i like.

and theres topazio
http://members.tripod.com/~capoeiratopazio/
not my cup of tea but their flips are some of the best, certainly the most perfect. theyre from bahia. these guys are ripped. loook for topazio on youtube.

flips and tricks are fun too. depends on your body type. get down gymanstics class is the easiest thing. get the basics correct and u will avoid injuries. stretch, strengthen and train hard, eat well and have rest days.

dont be in a hurry, enjoy your capoeira at all times and improve gradually.
