This is my 2010 Movie Showreel showcasing the films I did while in Bangkok - Hanuman and Street Fighter II with Kristin Kreuk. I put this together to get the Skittles commercial streamed live on the Internet where I was buried alive in over 2 million sweets. Enjoy this and I hope it make you laugh.

The warrior strives to improve: capoeira quotes

zumbi-capoeira.jpg

Hi guys I collated a few of my favourite quotes together. Many of these are from famous capoeira masters but not all... Hope you find inspiration from these like I do.

“The flame of this beautiful art is now in your hands. You can dampen it, you can burn yourself or your brothers and sisters, or, afraid of its heat, you can let go of it. I hope that you take good care of your capoeira and kindle this fire alive and powerful, enlightening your life”. (Mestre Acordeon)

ONE DAY OF TRAINING "A WARRIOR - THOUGHTS AND REFLECTIONS"

The tiredness was obvious; the sweat that ran down the faces of the capoeiristas was the clear to see. The end of a capoeira training.

The persistence in the repetitions made the body assimilate what the mind was thinking, and when it does so, it is all the better for training. And so it was, the training of the capoeiristas...

A Warrior in the Universe of Capoeira

young-capoeiristas.jpg

I noticed that a boy around his six years of age, he kept moving with the music, at every moment he was smiling and when someone went out to play he was even more happy, and I knew, that if we put him in the middle of roda he would kick his legs up, he would do cartwheel like a true capoeira. Said and done, I told a friend who called the boy to play and the boy went inside the roda doing cartwheel!

Who said? Tell it who told you?

Once I was in a coffee bar in London chatting with a friend of mine and she commented that her father was not a big fan of capoeira, I was intrigued and wanted to know why, how can you not like something that you don't even know? More than that she told me that her father thought that capoeira was connected with some kind of religious cult or something similar to that so I told her that I would write a song about it, because some times people say things about other people or about things that they don't even understand. If we want to talk about capoeira then come to capoeira, practice and train capoeira, live and learn about capoeira then you may say something! The music I wrote goes like this, lyrics below the video:

We play Capoeira in a circle that we call Roda. Why not a square or triangle?

capoeira-quem-te-disse.jpg

When we play capoeira in the Roda, towards the center of it, all of us become equal so Capoeira does not have sexual, colour or any kind of prejudice, for me we are all just capoeiristas with our differences and limitations. Well another reason is, that I believe the Roda without corners makes the energy, that comes from the battery flows better, making the moment magical for does who are there. When people cross they arms or there is any corner in the Roda, means that we are blocking the energy to flows, we are blocking the art to happen.

What exactly is Capoeira in my way of seeing?

Casquinha Capoeira in Russia

For me capoeira is where I forget the bitter things of life, it is where I retrieve my greatest happiness, where I always feel an inner peace and greater joy in my life. Capoeira connects my body and soul, it is where I give myself the joy of every day, using capoeira as an instrument of peace and friendship, always looking to make it my tool to meet new friends.

I believe that the capoeirista, when he discovers his potential to be a great artist, must find his inner change and gradually develop his own originality, he must find a deeper way to be unique.
